How did East Bridge begin?
-Katherine Taylor and Christy Taylor Chaney are sisters that both majored in art in college. After the graduation of Katherine they decided they wanted to open an art gallery in good ole Owensboro. But then they got to thinking, and they added the boutique part to the gallery. They named their art haven Studio Slant. At Studio Slant there is an art gallery but also a handmade boutique full of fun gifts made by artists with love. Their love for all things handmade grew into something they had dreamed about for years. With Studio Slant spreading the good word of handmade they wanted to see if an art festival would work in Owensboro. The sisters for years have traveled to art festivals and wanted one of their own and so they started to work on East Bridge. On the day of the Festival they were a bundle of nerves. Within an hour the grounds were filled with people admiring the uniqueness this festival had to offer. Children creating their own works of art while the parents took in the artwork surrounding them. Live music playing all day and the local restaurants serving up gourmet street food. Something they had only dreamed about was now in full swing right in front of them. Bringing in 1,900+ people, East Bridge Art and Music Festival was born.
